'Gone West' by Carola Dunn

I received this book from a giveaway at Goodreads.com.   It is an Advance Reading Copy of "Gone West" by Carola Dunn.  I was very impressed with the amount of detail the author went into. I got hooked the very first chapter.

This book is a murder mystery but the murder doesn't happen right away. First the author gives insight into the characters and then the murder happens. You have to pay real close attention to what the author is saying about each character because it gives very subtle clues as to who the murderer is. I had gotten so into each character that I didn't pay much attention to the clues. I was totally shocked to find out who the murderer was. I certainly didn't expect it to be who it was.

I had never heard of Carola Dunn before but I will be looking for more of her books. I would highly recommend this book.

Six more days

It's hard to believe.  In 6 more days I will be on my way to Texas.  This month has seemed to have flown by.

I'm a little nervous about this move.  I've never been to Texas and it's going take some time to get used to being there.  I'm leaving behind my daughter, Shanen, and my two grandsons, Aubrey-4 and Lorrance-11 months.  I am also leaving behind my oldest son, Thomas.  I'm sure they will be okay but I'm going miss them terribly.

We have a place in Texas already.  My husband found it the second week he was there.  We have a six month lease so hubby wants me to not unpack everything right off in case we decide to move after the six months is up.  It's not going to be easy not to unpack everything.  I have all my books in boxes and I'll have to leave them in the boxes.  I guess if I have to then I have to.  I'll just make sure they are easy to get into.

I have one book that I did leave out, though.  I got it in a giveaway at goodreads.com.  The book is 'Gone West" by Carola Dunn.  I started reading it this morning and it is real good.  I'm going to spend the rest of the day reading it.

Betty Pecko

Today is a very sad day for me.  At church this morning, I learned of a dear member, Betty Pecko, having a massive stroke and heart attack.  They say she won't make it much longer.  Her family brought her home from the hospital so she could be in her own home with family members close by.

Betty was always a cheerful person.  I had never seen her have a bad day.  Her husband, Harry, was a Deacon at our church, St. Augustines, in Union.

I had stopped going to church for a while but just recently started going back.  I would always see Harry at church but never Betty.  I'd ask Harry about her and he would say she was doing okay.  It was a great shock to go to church today and hear such sad news.

My thoughts and prayers go out for the Pecko family in this time of suffering.  I thank them for sharing Betty with me.  She is Loved and cherished and will be remembered for her smile and caring nature.  May God be with this family and give them strength as they go through this difficult time.

Saturday 01/21/12

It's a wet and dreary day today.  Not much to do but sit inside and try to stay warm.

I have been packing to move to Texas.  The move will be the first weekend of February.  I will be so glad when it is over and I can start unpacking boxes and organizing the new place.

Hubby left for Texas on New Year's eve.  I have been doing the packing all by my self.  Not that I'm complaining.  I don't mind getting it all done.  At least, I know things are packed right.  It's just, I'm tired of all the boxes right now.

I 'm looking forward to starting another chapter in my life in a new location.  I've never been to Texas before. I'm gonna have to start all over.  What a challenge it will be.

2012

It's already the second week of the new year and it has been hectic around here.

The end of last year brought many changes with it.  My Husband lost his job here in SC.  He wanted to stay with the same company and the only two choices he had was to either move to Pennsylvania or Texas.  He didn't much like the snow and he knew it would affect my arthritis so he chose Texas.

He left on the last day of the year, driving to Texas to start his new job.  I'm stuck here trying to get everything packed.  He found us a place to live over there and now I'm just waiting for him to come back at the end of the month to move me and our stuff there.

I've got most of the stuff packed but it seems like more stuff appears every day.  I can't wait to move and start new in a new city and state I've never been to.

I'm leaving behind my daughter and two grandsons and my oldest son.  That's the hardest part for me.  I am going to miss them so much.  I'm not to worried about Shanen (my daughter), because her boyfriend has plenty of relatives around here and she will be taken care of.  My son, on the other hand, has had a rough time of things.  He bought a camper and had it set up in a mobile home park and he's had problems with the roof leaking.  He always seems to have things go wrong for him for no reason.  He tries so hard to have every thing be okay, but they always seem to backfire on him.

My youngest son, Russell, is moving with us.  He's an over the road trucker so he won't be there often, but, at least he will have a place to go to when he's on home time.

I haven't been blogging much but I'm gonna try to change that.  I have lots of books that I have to read once we are moved and organized that I want to post reviews about.  It will also be nice to blog about what's been happening in my life.  I just have to figure out how to post photos to my blog and I will be set.

So, for now, I will stop and get back to packing.  Have a good day.
